What are the ZTL Florence hours?
The ZTL is active Monday to Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., according to the City of Florence. From April to October there is also a night ZTL from Thursday to Saturday, 11 p.m. to 3 a.m.
Visit Florence adds that the zone is open on Sundays. Rules can change, so always check the signs at each gate as well.
Can you drive a rental car into the Florence ZTL?
Only if your plate has been added to the authorised list. If you are staying at a hotel inside the zone, Visit Florence explains that the hotel can register your plate within 3 hours of entry, but only for access to the hotel; you then need to park outside the zone.
The practical advice for a ZTL Florence rental car is simple: pick up and drop off at a location outside the centre, and ask your hotel before you arrive exactly how they handle access. If you are not staying inside the zone, do not drive into it.
